I wrote a bit about fly fishing brand collaborations on Friday, but it occurred to me that I never mentioned the recent partnership I personally participated in with a fly fishing brand. At least I never mentioned it here on the Troutrageous! mothership, even though I might have called it out elsewhere.
Jason Klass of Tenkara Talk and I were approached by Tenkara USA earlier this summer to design tenkara kebari (fly) patterns for them as part of a limited time offering on their webstore. We collectively gave them recipes for three patterns, mine being a Hot Spot Futsu kebari, which they took, (somewhat) mass produced, and launched on July 23rd with a marketing campaign and everything…

Well, I’m happy to report back that less than a week after they were made available, they’ve already sold out!

Will Tenkara USA bring them back again? Beats me. But what a fun experience!

I hope folks that purchased the Hot Spot Futsu kebari enjoy them and catch a bunch of fish. Or, at least don’t lose them all to trees. And I’d really like to thank Tenkara USA for the opportunity to partner on the project. As someone who doesn’t consider themselves a particularly skilled fly designer or tyer, it’s an honor to be asked to have one of the patterns I fish offered for sale.
