Ok, I’ll be the first one to admit that I daydream far too much about buying my own little parcel of land near a trout stream.
What that usually involves is going on to Zillow (or similar) and searching for rundown, virtually abandoned single wides in the middle of nowhere that go for around $50K or less. My wife affectionately refers to them as “murder cabins”, and I guess that’s probably why I never pull the trigger on any of these dream homes, even though I really want to… remember, it’s all about location, location, location!
Well, yesterday… Gray’s Sporting Journal dropped this in my inbox. A Scottish salmon fishing property of my very own, right on the River Tay. With offers starting at only £1,250,000. (Now, being a stupid American, I have no idea how much that is, but sounds like I could sell the early 1990s baseball card collection I’ve been holding on to in order to make the down payment.)

Seriously though, look at this place. Absolutely stunning. I’d break out the kilt, the Peter Malloch reels, and pledge allegiance to the ghost of William Wallace for a crack at my own salmon beat.
Here’s a bit more eye candy and an abridged description of the property.

The River Tay is one of the most famous and historically prolific Atlantic salmon rivers in Scotland. The Tay is the longest river in Scotland, extending to approximately 120 miles from its source in Loch Tay to the North Sea at Firth of Tay, with a catchment of approximately 2,000 square miles.
The Kercock Fishings provide the opportunity to fish 2.25 miles of double bank fishing on one of the most scenic beats of the River Tay, Scotland. The Fishings have the huge benefit of seclusion and privacy well away from any major roads, whilst still being very accessible for those travelling from afar – something thatall anglers find very attractive. The beat is a combination of both Upper and Lower Kercock which provides anglersthe opportunity to fish any of the 14 named pools on offer. The beat provides fishing for 10 rods in totaland has a 5-year average (2019 to 2023) of 137 salmon and 20 sea trout. An experienced full-time ghillie offers valuable advice to all anglers with over 16 years’ experience of the beat.
Anyway, wanna buy a salmon river? If you’ve got some 1989 Billy Ripken error cards to sell and wanna go in halfsies, just let me know…
