It was brought to my attention, first by a new comment on a not so recent post, and then by a handful of social media notifications that Moldy Chum has effectively closed up shop. What?!? I had to double check to make sure it wasn’t April 1st.
Okay, okay… I’m guilty. I haven’t been making the rounds for my daily dose of the Chum as frequently as I used to… but damn, it was a great site to drop in on to get the latest and greatest. They covered topics such as videos to gear to conservation, and most notably a charcuterie board of oddities from around the fly fishing universe.
And those Friday posts from back in the day… a veritable chef’s kiss…
Heck, back when Troutrageous! was at its zenith (if you can call it that), I used to make sure I never posted the same news stories the Chum did when I’d write up those “Wednesday Nibbles“. Didn’t want to be seen as any more of a fraudulent copycat than I already was. Do you know how hard it was to find new fishing content (to add a few lines of snarky commentary about) that they weren’t already covering? Damn near impossible. The Chum was that good at canvassing the sport. And doing it on the daily to boot.
I guess I should stop rambling at this point, I think you can tell where I’m coming from here… So I’ll close by saying that I’m really going to miss Moldy Chum and I really appreciate the efforts that the authors and curators put into it over the years. Your site was fucking great.
