Cheeky Fishing recently released a pretty bold version of their popular Burst reel. The Bodacious Burst has a very ’80s neon pink spool that sits inside a black frame and definitely stands out in a sea of otherwise boring black and silver fly reels. The drag knob and reel seats also feature a contrasting “pop” of color too.
It’s kind of similar to what Redington did earlier this year with their “Miami” Vice fly rod. While these limited color variants may not be for everyone, it’s a pretty attention getting look and I appreciate the brands shaking things up a bit. Cheeky only made 120 of these, so if it’s of interest to you, look into picking up one soon. I’m sure they won’t last long.
Speaking of Cheeky, I’ll just end this post by noting that my personal saltwater reel of choice is a Cheeky Mojo 425 that I bought when I moved to Florida a decade ago. Despite me being far too rough on it, it’s still in great shape today, so yeah, I definitely f*ck with Cheeky.
