Ross Reels is out there stirring up an East vs. West rivalry through some really sexy looking new native trout paint schemes on their proven Animas reels.

These “Native Series” special edition reels are a collaboration between Ross Reels and Trout Unlimited. A portion of each reel sale will fund Trout Unlimited’s Embrace A Stream grant program, supporting conservation efforts for these species.
East: The Eastern Brook Trout

The brook trout reel color is a unique reddish-orange coloring found on an Eastern brook trout. Brook trout are found worldwide, but are only native in the eastern U.S. from the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean, and down the Appalachians to Georgia.
West: The Kern River Rainbow Trout

The rainbow trout reel color is a unique pink based on the pink stripe on a Kern River rainbow trout. The Kern River rainbow (Oncorhynchus mykiss gilberti) is a subspecies native to California’s Kern River and only found from the headwaters in the South Sierra Nevada to Lake Isabella.
Personally, I’m partial to the brookie reel (probably no surprise), but you can’t really lose either way. Gorgeous reels and a great cause. I won’t even mention the Golden Trout edition Animas that for some reason has been kept from this rivalry. Oops, guess I did anyway…
