I love a good podcast. April Vokey at Anchored Outdoors makes some of the best. She’s a damn fine angler and and even better fly fishing historian. This week I’m listening to her Anchored podcast where she’s speaking with Rebecca McCarthy regarding the latter’s new book about Norman Mclean. Yeah, the A River Runs Through It guy.
From April’s Website:
Rebecca McCarthy is a seasoned author and journalist with a passion for bringing historical figures and their legacies to life through storytelling. Her latest work, Norman Maclean: A Life of Letters and Rivers, offers an intimate portrait of the man behind A River Runs Through It. Drawing on her long friendship with Maclean, Rebecca intertwines personal anecdotes with broader historical insights to reveal the forces that shaped his literary achievements. Today, she joins us to explore the fascinating life of Norman Maclean and discuss her new book, which delves deep into his complex legacy.
Personally, I’ve seen the movie, but never read any of his books or really knew much about him, which is a bit embarrassing. So the pod has been a fascinating listen so far (as of writing this, I’m about halfway through).
Why don’t you give a listen too… and let me know your thoughts about it.
