Some Random Stuff from the Inbox

I’m not even sure when and where I signed up for some of the many fishing related marketing emails I receive… but boy that inbox is humming right now! Some are certainly more interesting than others, and I figured I’d share a few, because, well… I guess if they interested me, they might tickle your fancy too.

(And I know these companies would enjoy the free pub the virality of this post provides to all 14 of my readers).

Wild Fly Hits Alaska

I love these Wild Fly videos. Always have, I feel like they’ve been around for what seems like forever making them. Scottie is awesome.

This one appears to be in Alaska, which any idiot could figure out from the video thumbnail image. It also has the potential to be quite ridiculous (in a good way), look at that fish! So I definitely have to carve out some time to give it a watch. Maybe this weekend while my car is in the shop having some work done. Otherwise, I’ll have nothing better to do in the waiting room than stare intently at the vending machine and debate to myself whether it’s worth rolling the dice on that bag of Funyuns. Saturday can’t come soon enough!

Meeko Fly Lab

I don’t know jack sh*t about Meeko Fly Lab, but they’re sure offering some wild looking fly rods.

Some Random Stuff from the Inbox Troutrageous - Meeko Fly Lab

Their website marketing claims that they “have developed strategic partnerships with an all-star team of American manufacturers that are regarded as the masters of their craft to construct fly rods of the highest possible quality. Assembled by hand in America, Meeko Fly Rods bring production rods to the market with an unmatched combination of style and quality.”

Anyway, I guess they’re available starting tomorrow (March 1st) for those that sign up for early access, so it doesn’t hurt to take a peek.

E. Hinkley Illustration & Design

Well, at least this one isn’t a mystery as to why I’m getting the email… because it’s an order confirmation for a pretty rad shirt I just bought.

Now that Crooked Creek Holler is no longer making stuff, I can totally see myself buying one of everything on this site instead. Gotta stay fashionably fishy. By the way, the artist Eric Hinkley grew up in Northeast Pennsylvania and is based out Philly. So just another reason to represent. Go Birds.

More on Bamboo

Oh, and thanks to everyone who reached out in the comments, through direct message, and email about bamboo fly rods following the last post. Thanks to you, I now have some leads on where to find some good used and refinished rods, potentially some kits to build on my own, as well as some people telling me to screw the ‘boo and just go fiberglass since it’s just as wiggly and available at a fraction of the price.

I’m sure I’ll figure something out, and once I do, the debacle will be documented here!
