Exercise in Video Making Futility: Valley Creek Tenkara

While I embed videos here all the freakin’ time, it’s rare that I post a fishing video of my own…or at least a video that I took more than 30 seconds to edit.

Why?  Well, first, I mostly fish alone and I don’t have the patience to set up the camera to get all cinematogramatic…second, editing video sucks…and three,  I’m not Yukon Goes Fishing.

That said, during my fishing trip on March 10th, I stuck my point & shoot camera on a Gorillapod and crammed the legs down the front of my waders (sexy) to create this hot mess of out of focus shakiness.
Enjoy…at least until YouTube pulls it down because I used an Earth, Wind, & Fire song for the soundtrack…

  1. That video wasn't bad. That first brown was beautiful. I have to say I'm not a huge fan of those Tenkara nets. They lining is made out of what looks like mono. That can't be great for fish.

  2. It's posted by PA Fish & Boat Commission. Basically says no fish can be killed or found in someone's possession. Valley is C&R only within the boundaries of the park.

  3. You know, I've often wondered the same about the netting on those. It is a bit coarse…at least when compared to some of the mesh or rubber bagged nets many are used to fishing with. I don't think it's scraping up fish, but someday I'd really like to get one of the nets “tenkaraman” uses…if you know what I'm talking about.

  4. MichaelI am in the zone here, because I got to see EW&F when I was attending Miss State back in the 70's. If you haven't seen them in concert it is worth the bucks. I think the 70's produced some of the best artist and music of all time; Really impressed with the video and the surroundings–thanks for sharing a great post!!

  5. Damn man! You tie like the Greatest American Hero. I enjoy seeing a vid of an area I am so familiar with. We're lucky to have Valley so close.
