Sneaking In A Fishing Trip

Stole two and a half hours of fishing time yesterday in what was otherwise a pretty busy weekend.

The weather was nice, so there were a lot of people enjoying the park and creek.  While gearing up I had the pleasure of witnessing two Park Rangers escorting a couple back to their SUV, asking them to produce a driver’s license, and writing up some sort of “ticket” for not keeping their dogs on a leash.
The “wife” was going apeshit screaming lawsuit.  I dunno what was going on…but it was one of those trainwrecks you can’t help but blatantly watch.  I was hoping to see a taser gun pulled.
As for the fishing, I caught two, sadly lost one after an acrobatic 3 foot jump in the air, and failed to set the hook on maybe 3 solid strikes.  Tenkara USA 11′ Iwana paired with 3.0m yellow Masterline & assorted #16 nymphs were the meal ticket.  Only one picture, and it turned out crappy, so I added a bunch of stupid filters to it to hide some of the flaws.  Yeah, I’m freakin’ artsy.

  1. Only artsy photos are taken of retro bicycles using instagram with some stupid caption about how the meaning of life can be summed up by drinking coffee & listening to the Avett Bros (you couldn't possibly understand). Sorry, but that doesn't qualify.

  2. MichaelBeautiful Brookie–The Tenkara 11 ft. was your choice yesterday, but if the it had not been handy what wt rod would have you used to land the Brook?

  3. Thanks Bill, it's actually a brown trout, but I'm not judging. When I use a fly rod it's usually a 3-wt, on the short side, 6'6″ to 7'6″. Since I was nymphing, probably would have taken the extra foot and used the 7'6″.

  4. Nice way to squeeze in a short trip!. I can't count the number of fishing trips I have been without a camera. Any time I do have it, I never catch anything, anyhow.. Nice job, man!

  5. I want to know why nobody on the trout side thinks it's odd to show pictures of hand sized trout, yet when I do that with hand sized smallies I get nothing but grief and get called dinkmaster. They're just as pretty.I like the artsy shot.

  6. I don't see a DANG THING wrong with that photo. You have hairy arms. Maybe that. I dunno. I'm up in the air on hairy arms. (even my own)
